File description This file, provided in HDF5 format, contains a curated dataset of galaxy spectra used in the paper "Accurate spectroscopic redshift estimation using non-negative matrix factorization: application to MUSE spectra". The file comprises four HDF5 datasets: spectra_matrix, std_matrix, redshifts, and zconf. The spectra_matrix dataset is a two-dimensional array in which each row corresponds to a one-dimensional galaxy spectrum. The spectra are taken from five integral-field spectroscopic surveys conducted with the Multi-Unit Spectroscopic Explorer (MUSE) instrument at the Very Large Telescope: UDF, MEGAFLOW, MUSCATEL, MAGIC, and MUSE-WIDE. All spectra are expressed as flux density values sampled on a common rest-frame logarithmic wavelength grid. The std_matrix dataset has the same dimensionality as spectra_matrix and contains the corresponding per-pixel flux uncertainties (standard deviations) for each spectrum. The redshifts and zconf datasets are one-dimensional arrays providing, respectively, the spectroscopic redshift and the associated redshift confidence score for each spectrum in spectra_matrix. Notes > The Redshift confidence score (ZCONF) can take three values: 1, 2, and 3. A redshift confidence score of 3 means that the redshift is secure, identified from multiple high signal-to-noise (S/N) emission/absorption lines. A redshift confidence score of 2 means a confident redshift from either one high S/N emission line or from multiple low S/N lines. A redshift confidence score of 1 means that the redshift is uncertain. > All spectra are represented on a rest-frame logarithmic wavelength grid spanning log λ = 2.75–3.97, with a uniform spacing of Δlog λ = 2.170461 × 10⁻⁵. Flux densities are expressed as a function of rest-frame log-wavelength and are related to the observed-frame flux densities by:fλ(log λ_rest) = fλ(λ_obs) · λ_obs. > Unobserved parts in the rest-frame are filled with zeros for spectra, and with a high value (10^6) for uncertainties. > Spectra in spectra_matrix are sorted by increasing redshift.
