Analysis of Bridge Coupling Mechanical Properties and Driving Trajectory Responses under Crosswind Loads

This study investigates the impact of crosswind loads on the safe driving speed of high-speed vehicles, with a focus on determining threshold speeds for different wind conditions. The analysis is based on simulation tests and statistical evaluation of various factors influencing traffic safety. Under normal conditions, the recommended speed limit is 103 km/h, but when the wind reaches force 9, this limit decreases to 98 km/h. The study observes that vehicles begin to experience lateral displacement due to crosswinds at approximately 60 m, with the displacement increasing as wind speed rises. The maximum lateral displacement of 0.72 m occurs at 180 m and gradually decreases to 0.5 m at 360 m, stabilizing until the wind subsides. Upon dissipation of the crosswind, the vehicle’s lateral offset sharply reduces at 690 m, returning to its intended path. Additionally, the maximum sideslip of 0.4 m occurs at a displacement of 130 m, and the vehicle gradually stabilizes at 0.22 m by 640 m. These findings contribute to a better understanding of vehicle behavior under crosswind loads, enabling the development of more effective safety measures for high-speed driving.
