The National Library of Finland (NLF) is a research library and a central cultural heritage (CH) institution producing key digital infrastructure for Finnish libraries, archives, and museums. The NLF is also active in international CH networks. Thus, the sustainability activities of the library can have a wide impact. One key strategy for reaching the goals set in the NLF sustainable development program, published in 2021, is to adopt a cross-cutting sustainability mindset in the library. As a high-level framework, the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) may be challenging to relate to. Promoting sustainability is easily delegated to a dedicated working group, while other issues are prioritized in busy everyday work. However, achieving maximum impact is possible only if employees and management adopt a sufficient sustainability mindset to make it a self-evident value in everyday decision-making. This chapter is a personal narrative about helping colleagues find their sweet spot for making an impact and strengthening their active role. An organization-wide round of sustainability workshops was conducted in 2022–2023. The baseline for the mindset and sustainability competences in the library, as well as the impact of the workshops were measured. The workshops identified concrete actions that can be integrated into operational planning. According to the impact survey, employees and management were very motivated to begin with, and the workshops inspired them further. The workshops also strengthened the employees’ experience of their own agency. Thus, the round of workshops was a useful tool for empowering the library and strengthening its foundations for sustainability.
