THE SOMALILAND UN SEAT: A Legal, Constitutional, and Administrative Analysis of the Failed Somali Union and the Reversion of Somaliland's Sovereignty

This research investigates the UN Seat Anomaly, a legal and constitutional irregularity arising from the 1960 attempted union between the independent State of Somaliland and the UN Trust Territory of Italian Somaliland. The paper establishes Somaliland’s continuing sovereignty and analyzes administrative blockades, digital sovereignty, and the December 2025 recognition by Israel as the first formal acknowledgment of Somaliland’s independence.
