Abstract

• Pdr16p is a potential target for preventing the development of azole resistance in fungi. • The molecular mechanism by which Pdr16p supports azole resistance remains unclear. • Pdr16p predominantly localizes to lipid droplets (LDs) in yeast cells. • Neither the presence of LDs nor the localization of Pdr16p to LDs contributes to azole resistance in yeast. • Pdr16p may play a role in adjusting ergosterol biosynthesis in response to azole treatment.
