Design and Analysis of a Coreless Stator SSDR Axial-Flux Permanent Magnet Motor with Multipole Halbach Array for Compact Air Conditioning Compressors

This paper presents a structural design of a coreless stator, multipole Halbach-array-based single-stator/double-rotor axial flux permanent magnet motor (SSDR AFPM) with M-H array, specific for small-scale air conditioning compressors. The motor adopts a coreless stator configuration to effectively mitigate cogging torque, whereas the symmetric dual-rotor arrangement eliminates unbalanced axial forces, thereby reducing operational vibrations and acoustic noise, making it suitable for high-efficiency, low-noise compressor systems. Finite element analysis (FEA) was employed to investigate the impact of various magnet pole angle configurations on back electromotive force (BEMF), total harmonic distortion (THD), torque ripple coefficient (TRC), and efficiency (Eff). The simulation results demonstrated that the proposed multipole Halbach-array configuration can significantly enhance overall motor performance, offering a promising design reference for compressor drive applications.
