Effects of interest rates and inflation on personal finances

This research was conducted in the city of Ocosingo, considering the opinions of teaching staff at the Technological University of the Jungle and external sources residing in various municipalities in the states of Chiapas and the State of Mexico. It focused on understanding the effects of interest rates and inflation on personal finances. The study was conducted using a mixed methodological approach: quantitative and qualitative components; using surveys on interest rates, inflation, and personal finance indicators as data collection instruments; information was obtained from the opinions, experiences, and motivations of participants. The results demonstrate that inflation decreases purchasing power, which leads consumers to change their consumption habits to purchase cheaper products, affecting companies with quality products. On the other hand, high interest rates, although designed to control inflation, make products and services more expensive.
