Research on transformer winding fault diagnosis method based on 3-D oscillating waves

The condition assessment and fault diagnosis of transformer windings are critically important in the electrical field. This paper proposes a method that combines the oscillating voltage signal and current signal at the winding terminals to generate a 3-D oscillating wave. This 3-D oscillating wave is then utilized for condition assessment and fault diagnosis of transformer windings. Additionally, an experimental platform was constructed to simulate three types of winding faults. 3-D oscillating waves were measured for both healthy windings and windings with the three simulated fault conditions. Experimental results demonstrate that when a winding fault occurs, the generated 3-D oscillating wave exhibits significant differences compared to that of a healthy winding. These differences can be used to determine whether a fault has occurred in the transformer winding.
