EOSC-ENTRUST aims to create a European network of Trusted Research Environments (TREs) for sensitive data and drive European interoperability between TREs by development of a common blueprint for federated data access and analysis – the EOSC-ENTRUST Blueprint & Interoperability Framework (“ENTRUST Blueprint”, or simply “Blueprint”, for short). The final ENTRUST Blueprint will consist of template legal agreements, architecture specifications, operating procedures, interface definitions, and a glossary of terminologies. This document is the second version and presents revised architecture specifications, and the first versions of the template legal agreements, operating procedures, and interface definitions. The updated architecture addresses gaps and additional requirements identified by the ENTRUST Driver use cases when validating the first version of the ENTRUST Blueprint. The work on template legal agreements include analyses of necessary legal agreements in sensitive data federations, governance structures and tools available for data spaces, and existing agreements and governance structures for TREs and federations. Operating procedures cover user handling, data access and control, and federation governance. Interface definitions focus on the Authentication, Authorization, and Auditing Infrastructure (AAAI) and data object exchange between federation participants. When appropriate, the ENTRUST Blueprint has been aligned with ongoing EHDS and EOSC developments. Together, these updates are major steps towards the final ENTRUST Blueprint that aims to describe minimal requirements for joining a federation of TREs, and give a solid foundation for future scaling, alignment with domain-specific initiatives, and long-term sustainability of the EOSC-ENTRUST framework.
