This dataset represents the output of the project Hus och gård i det förurbana samhället (Eng: House and Farm in the Pre-Urban Society), led by Ola Kyhlberg togheter with Hans Göthberg and Ann Vinberg, published in 1995. The project was initiated by the Swedish National Heritage Board (Swe: Riksantikvarieämbetet, RAÄ) in a broad collaboration with several partners involved in Swedish contract archaeology. The aim was to provide an overview and knowledge base concerning houses and farms that had been archaeologically investigated in Sweden. The results were published in an overview with articles on different topics and a catalogue. The aim was also to make the data available, but in the 1990’s the possibilities of doing that in a structured way was limited. As part of the Swedish National Infrastructure for Digital Archaeology (Swedigarch), the database has been reworked and converted to open formats, and is hereby being published. Data is provided both in original format, as a zip containing a number of dBase files. Swedigarch has converted this data to a GeoPackage that can be opened directly in GIS software. As part of this process, coordinates, that originally were in shortened RT 90 format (ESPG 3021), have been transformed to SWEREF99 TM (EPSG 3006). In addition to that, the spatial location has been adjusted to match the corresponding site, as described in the database. Some of the coordinates did not match the location of the site, and where manually moved to match the centroid of the site as provided by the RAÄ Kulturhistoriska lämningar (https://www.raa.se/hitta-information/oppna-data/oppna-data-portal/). This is the base for the geospatial data of the location, and in additional attributes in the GPKG (“nyX” and “nyY”) in the layer ‘Hus och gård punkter sweref_fixed_location’ (n=473). This was done carefully, but some errors might still exist and there might be differences between the location of sites since the 1990 that have not been identified. The layer ‘Hus och gård punkter sweref_not_fixed_location’ (n=58) it has not been possible to determine the exact location of the excavation. The status of the location is given by the variable “fixed_location”. Note that the geospatial data is only one point per excavation.
