AI Enabled Smart Tool Post in Lathe Machine

Traditional manual lathes depend entirely on the operator's experience to detect tool wear and machine faults. This research proposes an AI-Enabled Smart Tool Post modification for a 4-way single-point cutting tool holder. By utilizing Edge Computing (ESP32) and Machine Learning (ML), we successfully developed a system capable of predicting tool failure with 92% accuracy, significantly reducing workpiece scrap and machine downtime in an ITI workshop environment
