Deliverable D2.2 - 6G-EWOC Network Architecture

The 6G-EWOC project envisions to contribute to the transforming of urban transportation by integrating emerging technologies to support FAVs (by considerably improving their situational awareness), ensuring emergency vehicles prioritization and more efficient road utilization. The aim of this deliverable is to design the 6G-EWOC high-level architecture that will enable (a) real-time data sharing in (vehicular and network) traffic-heavy environments such as busy intersections, where fast, precise communication between vehicles, road/network infrastructure and VRUs is crucial for preventing accidents and (b) traffic flow optimization across wider city areas and emergency vehicles’ prioritization without causing major vehicular traffic disruptions. Towards this end, on one hand the 6G-EWOC architectural design takes into account the impact of the FAVs (supporting collective perception), along with that of the 6G-EWOC’s technologies (OWC, photonic switching, connected LiDARs and RaDARs, JCAS, AI-based orchestration, etc.), and of the envisioned UCs onto an e2e 6G-V2X system operation, while on the other hand, it builds upon the existing C-V2X framework (LTE/NR V2X).
