A Neglected Truncus Arteriosus in a 19-year-old male patient: A Case Report

Persistent truncus arteriosus (PTA) is a rare congenital heart defect (CHD), which is uncommonly seen among adults due to its poor prognosis and high mortality.We present a rare type 1 truncus arteriosus associated with moderate truncal valve regurgitation.This study emphasizes the importance of early detection of CHD in adults.Key Clinical MessagePersistent truncus arteriosus is congenital heart defect often diagnosed in adulthood with high mortality rate.Early detection and management are crucial for improving outcomes and preventing complications.Implementing TTE in postnatal screening programs is expected to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality rates in adulthood.
