This technical guideline document provides practical recommendations for recording ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) video to maximize scientific value for current and future analysis. Based on the experience from the EMINENT and DeepSee projects, it covers: Technical specifications for video formats, bitrates, resolutions, and file naming conventions Metadata requirements for accurate positioning and data synchronization Filming strategies optimized for machine learning analysis and 3D photogrammetry Data management standards for long-term archival and automated processing pipelines The guidelines address both operational aspects (camera angles, lighting, filming patterns) and data management (standardized folder structures, forbidden characters, metadata formats). Special emphasis is placed on enabling post-processing techniques such as YOLO-based object detection and photogrammetric 3D reconstruction of seafloor features. Developed from experience with the Ægir6000 ROV operated by UiB, but applicable to any ROV operation.
