Sequential Polychloromethylation/Cyclization of <i>N</i> -Cyanamide Alkenes for the Construction of Polychloromethyl-Containing Quinazolinones

A green and efficient radical cascade cyclization method for the synthesis of polychloromethyl-substituted quinazolinones is reported. The polychloromethylation/cyclization process proceeds in 64-93% yields using unactivated alkenes and is characterized by its metal-free conditions, broad substrate scope, and excellent functional group compatibility. This strategy is also applicable to other polyhaloalkanes, offering promising potential for the preparation of pharmaceutically relevant polychloromethyl-substituted <i>N</i>-heterocycles.
