Content of a pre-service training teacher’s competence in the field of artificial intelligence

The aim of the study is to comprehend the essence of a teacher’s competence in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) amid the digital transformation of education. The authors of the article conceptualize the modern teacher’s AI competence as a multifaceted professional quality that facilitates the transition from the role of knowledge transmitter to that of an observer and mentor who organizes the learning process using contemporary AI tools. As an effective instrument for developing teacher competence, six key components are considered (motivational-goal oriented, information security, ethical, prompt engineering, teaching and assessment, learning process management). The content, structure, and practical implementation of the revised model of a teacher’s AI competence are described, based on the analysis of pedagogical research and contemporary educational challenges. The scientific novelty of the study lies in expanding pedagogical knowledge about the structure of teacher competence in modern pedagogical domains, as well as proposing a model of knowledge and abilities that demonstrates the areas where modern tools can already be utilized and how they will assist future educators. As a result of the study, it has been established that the development of AI competence enables the teacher to become a powerful agent within the pedagogical triad “teacher – artificial intelligence – learner”.
