Thirty congresses: What a journey!

The European Association of Hospital Pharmacists (EAHP) will celebrate its 30th congress in Barcelona from 18 to 20 March 2026, a remarkable achievement that continues to showcase the transformation of hospital pharmacy. The theme of this congress is ‘Diverse tasks – One team ensuring excellence for all patients’. My first congress was in 2013 when the theme was ‘ Improving patient outcomes – a shared responsibility .’ This shone a light on the collaborative role of hospital pharmacists, multidisciplinary teams and healthcare systems in enhancing patient care. Although the theme is somewhat similar, I think it was more about setting the direction of travel, whereas now there is a sense that much has been achieved.
