Teaching Performance of Beginning Teachers in Ilocos Sur: Basis for New Educators' Support and Training Program

Using Mixed Methods Sequential Explanatory design, this study determined the teaching performance of beginning teachers of schools run by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres Education Ministry (SPCEM) in Ilocos Sur. Moreover, emerging themes from semi-structured interviews were used as basis of strategies included in the induction program. Majority of the respondents are females, licensed, residing in rural areas, and State University graduates. On teaching performance, the beginning teachers were rated “Very Satisfactory”. Emerging themes were sharing of best practices and words of affirmation; focused observations with focused feedback; Reflective Teaching; and Provision of learning resources and materials.
