We are excited to announce scikit-bio 0.7.2! Release highlights: Introduced multiple new metrics, like jc69 and k2p, for calculating the evolutionary distance between aligned sequences, as well as a new align_dists function which takes a multiple sequence alignment and returns a distance matrix. The permanova and mantel statistical methods can now operate directly on condensed form DistanceMatrix objects, reducing memory footprint by 50%. The new phylip_dm format can read in PHYLIP formatted distance matrices, and the existing phylip format now supports relaxed PHYLIP formatted multiple sequence alignments. OrdinationResults has new plotting functionality, including centroids, confidence ellipses, and 2D plotting. TreeNode.from_linkage_matrix is now more efficient and able to accept array-like input. scikit-bio can now be cited via its journal publication in Nature Methods.
