On the susceptibility of gher kin chickens to colibacillosis

The work was carried out under the supervision of Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor A.A. Sukhinin (SPbSUVM). It has been established that colibacillosis in gherkin chickens occurs spontaneously every year in private poultry farms, due to violation of sanitary conditions for feeding and keeping chickens, as well as due to the introduction of virulent strains of E. coli from outside in approximately 5-12% of batches of young stock brought in for rearing. The resistance of chickens to colibacillosis during rearing varies from 2 UER (conventional units of resistance, at the age of 1-10 days) to 9.6 UER in chickens at the end of the fattening period. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that healthy chickens are more susceptible to colibacillosis in the first 10 days of rearing. Thus, the use of special preventive measures against colibacillosis in chickens aged 1-10 days is indicated in all private poultry farms.
