Networked Mobilization in the Age of Hashtags: A Social Network Analysis of Online Activist Campaigns

The fast growth of media has changed the way people work together. Now people can come together for a cause using the internet and hashtags. This study looks at how people use media to make a difference. It checks out how online campaigns start, get popular and have an impact on media sites, like Facebook and Twitter. The study uses a tool to see how people talk to each other online. It finds out who the important people are and how they are connected on media. The study also looks at the structure of groups that want to make a change, which is also known as social media activism or online activist networks specifically on social media platforms. We looked at how people interacted with these campaigns how information was shared and how important certain people were in these networks. What we found out is that hashtags are really good at getting people involved and excited about a cause. They help people participate from over make activist messages louder and connect people with different ideas in online groups. Some people, like influencers and opinion leaders are really good, at making campaigns more popular and getting people to engage with them. This study shows how online networks being structured in certain ways shapes the outcomes when people work to rally support online. The findings provide helpful knowledge to researchers, activists, policymakers, and groups aiming to use social media to take collective action in today's digital world.
