The ontology of information as a process of becoming: metastability, individuation, and transduction in Gilbert Simondon’s philosophy

The study aims to substantiate the status of information as an ontological process in the philosophy of Gilbert Simondon and to demonstrate how the processual model of information transforms classical notions of being and cognition. The paper conducts an ontological reconstruction of key categories in Simondon’s conceptual framework (metastability, individuation, transduction) and reveals their role in forming an informational ontology. In this framework, information is understood as an immanent event of becoming rather than a transmitted signal or a quantitative measure. On an epistemological level, it is demonstrated that information serves as an operator for the joint individuation of the subject, object, and technical artifact, which leads to a revision of the representationalist model of cognition and the dissolution of the rigid subject-object opposition. It is shown that allagmatics functions as a methodological tool that captures the operations of becoming and allows for avoiding the reification of processes in contemporary digital discourses, where information is reduced to algorithmic adaptation. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the systematic exposition of Simondon’s informational ontology from an ontologico-epistemological perspective and in clarifying the status of the technical object as an ontological operator of information within a digital techno-environment.
