Nasal mucosal protection during Le Fort I osteotomy using an autologous fibrin sealant produced by the CryoSeal FS system

Le Fort I osteotomy often involves manipulation of the nasal floor and adjacent mucosa, particularly in cases requiring superior repositioning of the maxilla, where the risk of mucosal injury is increased. We describe a simple technique for nasal mucosal protection using an absorbable cellulose haemostatic agent stabilised with an autologous fibrin sealant. This method provided a stable protective interface during maxillary repositioning without interfering with fixation and was associated with uneventful intraoperative and postoperative outcomes.
