An interesting hunting behaviour of the Goshawk (Accipiter gentilis). - V.N. Grishchenko, E.D. Yablonovska-Grishchenko. - Avifauna of Ukraine. 11. 2025. - On September 27, 2025, we observed a young male Goshawk hunting for a male pheasant on a stream in the meadows of the left bank of Dnipro river near the town of Kaniv (Cherkasy region, central Ukraine). The hawk shot down the pheasant, but it escaped and fell into the water. The hawk jumped on it from above, drowned it, but could not lift it out of the water. Remains of plant and animal food were found in the stomach and craw of the dead bird. [Ukrainian].
