Role-Playing as a Therapeutic Tool in the First Psychological Session: An Innovative Approach in Professional Practice.

Introduction: This article discusses role-play as a therapeutic tool in the firstpsychological session with professional practice students, highlighting theimportance of an innovative approach to acquiring therapeutic skills.Methodology: An innovative role-play strategy was implemented to prepareprofessional practice students for psychological care of patients and to createa guide for the first psychological session. Results: Traceability was obtainedfrom the 2023-I to 2025-I academic periods, with 94 patients treated bystudents in 2023. In 2024, 91 patients were treated. In relation to the 2025-Isemester, 56 patients were treated. This shows that students acquire therapeutic skills through role-play during classes or individual counseling sessions. Conclusions: The suitability of implementing the first session guide for psychology students and postgraduate students training to become therapists in the clinical field is highlighted.
