The specific objectives of the study were; to identify the existing of leadership, to determine the Level of employee engagement, to assess the relationship between leadership and employee engagement and to examine the effect of leadership on employee engagement in case of CBE selective districts. The sources and methods of data collection was primary collected through questionnaires’ and secondary data collection from some documents of CBE. The target population of this study was employees of commercial bank of Ethiopia working in Addis Ababa area at branch level specially Arada District and Kirkos District Selectively. From 8,800 total populations of CBE branches, which are found in Addis Ababa city, 420 employees were selected as the sample of the study. Sample random sampling technique was used to select the branches and individual respondents. The ANOVA Analysis was used to compare the demographic characteristics of the respondents. Correlation and linear regression were used to analyze the relationship and its effect between leadership behavior and employees' engagement through organization commitment as mediator. The regression results showed that the leadership behaviors have significant contribution for leadership and employees’ engagement. The study used quantitative research method and explanatory research design to objectively answer the proposed research questions. The study shows that there is positive relationship between leadership and employees’ engagement. Based on the findings, the study recommends that CBE should empower employees and reinforce team orientations, embrace integration, co- ordination, organizational learning, agreement and core values and they should create competence development to promote employees ‘engagement.
