Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Drainage: Keys to Antenatal Diagnosis

ABSTRACT This article combines the previously established prenatal diagnostic features and outlines the pathophysiology, classification, and ultrasound features suggestive of total anomalous pulmonary venous drainage (TAPVD) to improve the antenatal detection of this life‐threatening condition. Understanding the key imaging features on the standard fetal cardiac screening views and optimizing imaging parameters can prompt early referral for fetal echocardiography, thereby improving perinatal outcomes. Improving detection rates of this rare but clinically significant congenital heart defect would allow for antenatal counselling and optimizing place of delivery.
