Make in India: An Analysis of the FDI Inflows and its Economic Impacts

Launched in 2014, the Make in India campaign sought to create jobs, investment, and innovation in order to make India a global center for manufacturing. This report examines the program's effects using sectoral inflows, year-over-year growth comparisons prior to and following its implementation, and patterns in foreign direct investment (FDI). Even though FDI inflows rose dramatically after debut and peaked in 2022, succeeding years have shown a dip, suggesting sensitivity to the state of the world economy.
