Pose-Driven Precision: Advancing Robot-Assisted Welding

This paper examines the transformative impact of robot-assisted welding (RAW) on architectural fabrication, emphasizing its role in improving efficiency, precision, and sustainability in construction. Through the integration of advanced robotic systems and computational design tools, RAW replaces traditional manual surveys and static layouts with a dynamic workflow that directly translates 3D design models into physical assemblies. This study highlights the successful application of RAW in fabricating 300 unique hub covers for a large-scale renovation project, achieving a 75% reduction in labor time and eliminating 2,200 sq ft of jig waste. By combining robotic precision with human craftsmanship, RAW optimizes workflows for complex geometries, reduces material waste, and accelerates project timelines. The findings underscore the potential of RAW to revolutionize custom fabrication processes, making them more adaptable and efficient, while paving the way for broader adoption in the construction industry.
