An Advanced Programmable Reactor Based Ride Through Scheme for Stable Operation of DFIG Based Wind Energy Conversion System

Wind energy system is getting more popular due to the enhanced efficiency and optimizes reliability. Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion system is having tremendous performance and outstanding efficiency which make it superior to the other type of generator. The cost effectiveness due to the partial rated converter add on to its meritoriously. However, the direct coupling of the stator terminal with the grid affects its operation and makes it more sensitized. Any types of disturbance lead to affect the performance of the generator. In the current research a ride-through scheme is developed to making the operation of the DFIG based wind energy system more stable. In this scenario, an advanced ride-through scheme is designed which suitable for fault condition, which offers a programmable reactor (PR) in the stator circuit depending on the fault scenario. The simulation is being carried in MATLAB Simulation based environment. In this scheme a variable reactor is proposed which is having several steps of control for restricting the uncertainties. The analysis will also compare the proposed scheme with the other available technic for determining the efficacy of the proposed designed scheme.
