Abstract This chapter investigates celebrity dynamics, examining not only its formation but also its maintenance, dissipation, and subsequent repair. Specifically, it reviews and integrates research on both CEO and organisational celebrity to provide a multilevel perspective and offer a deeper understanding of how and with what effects celebrity dynamics unfold over time. Overall, the chapter develops a cohesive framework that illustrates the multifaceted roles played by various actors (e.g., media, organisations, CEOs) in the formation and management of celebrity as well as the fundamental mechanisms (e.g., sociocognitive and behavioural) through which its influence on important organisational- and individual-level outcomes unfolds. In doing so, it highlights issues and debates that remain at the forefront of current research on celebrity. Lastly, the chapter goes beyond the existing body of knowledge to pose critical unanswered questions that identify promising avenues for future research that will push the boundaries of our comprehension of celebrity dynamics.
