Chemical Engineering and Elastomer Laboratory at Department of Biochemistry and Applied Chemistry, National Institute of Technology, Kurume College is introduced. The roots of rubber research at our college date back to 1944 and have been handed down to the present day. During that time, our laboratory developed a laboratory-sized internal mixer as part of joint research with a company, and it is still in use today. We are systematically conducting research on the kneading of rubber using the internal mixer. In addition, our laboratory has a variety of rubber-related analytical instruments such as a Mooney viscometer and curemeter. Using these equipment, we are mainly conducting research on the kneading of rubber and the development of elastomers using rice husk ash as a reinforcing agent. Finally, our laboratory aims to become a laboratory that can be opened up to rubber companies nationwide, including those in neighboring regions.
