High-Speed 3D Vibrometry for Industrial Modal Analysis

Abstract We present a novel high-speed 3D vibrometry system based on multi-beam FMCWlaser radar technology developed by Ommatidia LiDAR. The system enables simultaneous interferometric distance and laser Doppler velocity measurements across 65 parallel sensing channels. The device achieves a 50-meter range and provides co-registered 3D point clouds with vibration data, enabling accurate and contactless modal analysis. A case study on an industrial motor demonstrates the system’s ability to identify fundamental and harmonic vibration modes, as well as localized hotspots. Results confirm the suitability of this approach for industrial quality control, structural testing, and predictive maintenance.
