Astroecology is a new scientific discipline that addresses environmental issues at a new biosystemic level, including outer space. Although a branch of astrobiology, astroecology already has its own distinct structure and is developing in accordance with modern trends in the development of human civilization characterized by the involvement of various natural science disciplines in the study of cosmic phenomena. Using the theoretical aspects and methodology of studying the terrestrial biosphere as a foundation, astroecology explores its interaction with outer space within the concept of the metabiosphere. Its primary subjects of study include the formation of ecosystem interactions in both artificial model systems and hypothetical extraterrestrial systems, as well as the fundamental methods of space exploration of terrestrial ecosystems and their application to the methodology of searching for extraterrestrial life. At the same time, all discoveries within astroecology will inevitably have significant implications for terrestrial sciences, given the development of new conceptual approaches and new methodologies for solving scientific problems. This article presents astroecology as an actively developing science, whose area of scientific interest and its interaction with related disciplines are constantly evolving, and the demand for relevant specialists will steadily increase.
