Abstract

Evidence-based care for people with epilepsy of childbearing potential (PWECP) who become pregnant includes prescribing antiseizure medications (ASMs) to minimize seizure frequency while limiting teratogenic exposures (i.e., valproate, topiramate). We aimed to examine peripartum ASM discontinuation and adherence among PWECP; and whether patients seen by high-volume epilepsy providers have different teratogenic ASM exposure.
