Evangelical Natural Law and Neo-Calvinist Political Thought

Abstract In this review essay, I engage with an important recent American statement of evangelical political thought indebted to an Augustinian reading of natural law, Hopeful Realism , from the standpoint of neo-Calvinism, especially the political philosophy of Herman Dooyeweerd. The essay welcomes the book as an innovative and constructive intervention in a fractured American polity, engaging especially with those parts that could facilitate a fruitful dialogue with relevant themes in Dooyeweerd’s thought.
