A DC-Block-Based Architecture to Enable High Power EV Fast Charging with Built-in Precise Peak Demand Management

The exponential rise in energy demand-driven by U.S. policies on local manufacturing and AI-powered data centers-is straining the grid and increasing the need for Distributed Energy Resources (DER). Utilities face constraints from aging infrastructure and distribution upgrade costs, including transmission expansion. Smart DERs help relieve these pressures. This paper presents a DC-Block-based architecture that reduces AC loading on utility distribution lines, particularly for EV fast charging. The system, Clean Virtual Power (CVP), integrates energy storage with telemetry and energy management. Its algorithm, Adaptive Energy Reprofiling Solution (AERS), achieved up to $99.8 \%$ demand management accuracy based on data from commercial and industrial sites. Building on this experience, CVP introduces “HubCharge,” a fast-charging solution designed to avoid utility upgrades during deployment and reduce peak demand during operation. This supports grid stability and EV infrastructure growth.
