Role of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Education Equity and Development in Nepal

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has played a longstanding and influential part in supporting the education sector, incorporating equity and accessibility to marginalized and underserved populations in Nepal. Since the engagement of USAID, it has contributed in numerous ways to strengthen the education system of Nepal through investment in quality, inclusion, and capacity building of the institution. This article examines the critical role that the USAID has in the advancement of education equity and development in Nepal with an emphasis on addressing gender disparities, early-grade learning, and youth workforce development. Until the termination of the USAID, its investment in education has contributed to increased participation at school, enhanced literacy skills, increased teacher capacity, and inclusion of children from marginalized backgrounds. Overall, the study underscores the importance of USAID support for sustained international investment in education in Nepal as a significant partner.
