Enhance your research results, unlock their full potential, enable tangible changes and benefits Don’t just do research, make it count. In Horizon Europe, scientific excellence is only half the battle. To secure funding and drive real change, you must master the art of Impact. This PATTERN training course is designed to transform bureaucratic requirements into a competitive advantage for your career. Why is this training different? Forget vague theory. This 2-hour live session is a deep dive into the practical tools you need to navigate the proposal and implementation stages successfully. We focus on the "how-to" of the daily challenges researchers face: Mastering the Horizon Europe Template: We will delve directly into the template, showing you exactly how to structure the "Impact" section to maximize your chances of success. Actionable Strategies: Get concrete "tips and tricks" and real-world examples on how to build an effective Communication and Dissemination Plan without wasting time. Protect Your Hard Work: Protecting your results is paramount. We will demystify the legal landscape by walking you through a real Joint Ownership Agreement (JOA). This practical exercise will guide you on how to fill out and interpret these essential documents to safeguard your work. Course Summary This is a free online training course of approximately 2h in total, articulated in 2 modules: MODULE 1: Horizon Europe: a Project-based learning approach to Dissemination and Exploitation of Research Results MODULE 2: Exploitation of scientific results, IPR and how to protect your research results Learning outcomes By the end of the course, learners will be familiar with: The strategic definitions and “shades” of Impact: Understanding the specific glossary and distinctions between Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation in the context of Horizon Europe, and how to effectively address Section 2 (Impact) of the proposal template. The lifecycle of a Dissemination and Exploitation Plan: How to develop a comprehensive Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation Plan (CDEP) that evolves from a strategic concept at the proposal stage into a concrete reference document for the project's implementation phase. Practical tools and management strategies: Identifying the most effective channels and tools for maximizing visibility, including specific "tips and tricks" and concrete examples on how to manage these activities efficiently within a consortium. IPR protection and exploitation mechanisms: Gaining actionable knowledge on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and how to securely manage research results, with a deep dive into the purpose, structure, and practical compilation of a Joint Ownership Agreement (JOA). Application of Knowledge. Learners will be equipped to directly apply these insights to improve the competitiveness of collaborative R&I project proposals (specifically Horizon Europe Pillar 2). Furthermore, they will acquire transferable skills enabling them to better manage the communication and protection of results in their own independent research projects. Target Groups This training targets two main groups of learners: Researchers actively involved in the development of Horizon Europe project proposals: PhD candidates (R1), Post-doctoral researchers and academics (R2), Established researchers such as senior academics and principal investigators (R3); Administrative and/or research support staff (e.g. research managers, universities’ grant office personnel) working on Horizon Europe funded projects.
