Study protocol: Open Science and the Effects of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Scientific Exchange in the European Union

This protocol sets out the methodological framework for a foresight-oriented study examining how Open Science interact with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) and how this interaction reshapes scientific exchange in the European Union. The study is designed to support parliamentary deliberation by combining desk research, expert-based foresight, and structured policy analysis. The analytical backbone is a STEEPED framework (Social, Technological, Economic, Environmental, Political/Legal, Ethical, Demographic), complemented by participatory scenario development and a transparent risk-and-options analysis. The protocol emphasises methodological transparency, reproducibility, and policy relevance, and contains in its Annex the first draft of the desk research results, the scenarios on Open Science and generative Artificial Intelligence from the experts and the workshop agenda and exercises.
