Appendix to the paper titled "Alternative Test for Characterization of Tensile Properties of UHPC"

This is a summary of research done to determine the optimal modification of Brazilian Splitting Test Specimen in order to secure correct estimate of direct tension in the horizontal direction (normal to the diametric "splitting" compression force). This is useful for UHPC materials, because in these cases, after diametrical splitting the specimen starts to transfer forces through compression between top and bottom bearing supports, and that prevents the horizontal tension force (of the idealized strut and tie model used to interpret the mechanics of the Brazilian splitting test) to be quantified accurately.
