Electromechanical Performance Evaluation of PLD-Processed REBCO Tapes for Superconducting Magnets

This study assesses the electromechanical performance of eight practical REBCO-coated conductors produced via PLD under uniaxial tension. Continuous I<sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">c</sub> measurements at 77 K in self-field served as the baseline, and high-field tests for operational purposes were conducted at 20 K under 3-5 T using a Katagiri type tension rig. The reversible strain and stress limits, determined by the 95% Ic0 retention criterion, ranged from 0.33% to 0.53% and from 410 to 760 MPa, respectively, influenced by substrate, slitting, and APC architecture. Despite the limited dataset, a comparison of the EMP for I<sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">c</sub> degradation based on the irreversible limit was performed at both baseline and operational test conditions. These results will provide valuable benchmark data and practical insights for magnet design and EMP standardization.
