Iguanas: a project for the strengthening social skills of children of Transition B to Instituto Tecnico Empresarial el Yopal

This research experience was carried out within the framework of the ONDAS- Early Childhood program, in agreement with the Universidad Autónoma de Bucaramanga- UNAB. Its purpose was to strengthen social skills (empathy, collaborative work, listening) in children, through the exploration of the iguanas of the Instituto Técnico Empresarial el Yopal- ITEY. Taking advantage of the resources of the environment, the curiosity of preschoolers (5-6 years old) and evidenced behaviors, such as disruptive behaviors among peers and with nature, the need arises to generate strategies of approach, recognition, care and change in the perception of iguanas; as well as the management of children’s own emotions, the development of thinking and scientific skills from an early age. This qualitative research under the action-participation approach highlights the possibility of interacting with iguanas and promoting environmental conservation, as well as restructuring pedagogical practices by proposing new ways of connecting with knowledge and emotions to generate holistic scaffolding from the transition grade; it is also emphasized that coexistence and social skills are learned, strengthened and structured from practice and must be guided and mediated by adults who accompany the processes. https://doi.org/10.21723/riaee.v20iesp.1.2022902
