Molecular diagnostic of culicoides pools for two viruses of veterinary interest (BTV, EHDV) from a two-year entomological survey in La Reunion island

Based on an eleven-site survey conducted over two years, all the captured individuals were sexed and identified to species level. A maximum of 150 females per site, species and collection date were molecularly tested for the presence of bluetongue virus and epizootic haemorrhagic disease virus.<br> The objective of the study was to characterize the vector role of each species by assessing the spatio-temporal variations in infection rates.
