Investigating and managing weight loss in donkeys

Donkeys may be presented to first opinion and referral centres for weight loss. The approach to investigation and management follows the same principles as for any species, but knowledge of donkey-specific characteristics will benefit the veterinary practitioner. This article describes those features of caring for and treating donkeys that are subtly different from addressing weight loss in horses, using donkey cases to illustrate key points.
