Optical and thermal modeling of human tissue laser ablation

Laser ablation offers exceptional surgical precision with minimal invasiveness, making it a powerful tool for targeted tissue removals. In this study, an optical simulation utilizes a detailed human tissue model, applying accurate ray tracing to capture how laser light interacts with the skin tissue This is followed by a fluid–thermal simulation that models the transient behavior of tissue ablation across multiple time steps. The process is coordinated through an automated multi‑physics workflow, using system coupling that enable co‑simulation and data mapping between distinct meshing systems. This study provides a robust framework for evaluating the effectiveness and safety of optical medical devices in direct contact with human tissue.
