Digital Multimeters Voltage Sampling Performance Comparison

This paper evaluates the sampling performance of the Fluke 8588A digital multimeter, introduced in 2019, and compares it to that of the Keysight 3458A, well established in metrology laboratories. We measured the frequency and phase response as well as noise contributions from timing jitter, 1/f noise and frequency independent noise for all DC voltage ranges. The results show that the capabilities and performance of the two multimeters vary significantly depending on the operating modes and parameters selected for the measurement.
