Influence of Control Mode of Operation of Singlestage PV Power Station on Satisfaction of HVRT and LVRT Requirements

A comparison between four control modes of operation of a single-stage PV power station with respect to their impact on the satisfaction of the High-Voltage and Low-Voltage Ride Through (HVRT and LVRT) is presented in this paper. The four control modes of operation are: (1) Reactive Power control (Q-control), (2) Reactive Power-Terminal Voltage Droop control (Q-V Droop control), (3) Reactive PowerTerminal Voltage control (Q-V control) and (4) AC Terminal Voltage control (V-control). The <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$2^{\text{nd }}$</tex> IEEE benchmark model used for Subsynchronous Resonance (SSR) studies is modified to install the single-stage <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\mathbf{P V}$</tex> power station. The modified model is simulated using PSCAD to perform the study.
