Digitally driven i-Bar design for implant splinting in FP1 restorations: aesthetic and functional integration

To highlight two clinical cases demonstrating advanced digital workflows for i-Bar design to achieve functional splinting of implants in final prosthetic restorations. The primary objective was to ensure passive-fit bar fabrication that supports FP1-style restorations without compromising esthetics. A combination of intraoral scanning, photogrammetry, and Exocad was employed for initial data acquisition and diagnostic design. The Blender for Dental platform was used for bar modeling via the i-Bar module, incorporating precise anatomical alignment, emergence profiles, and tissue-friendly designs. BME (bar model export) files were generated for milling and final bar fabrication. One of the primary challenges addressed was the esthetic limitation posed by FP1 restorations, particularly maintaining gingival harmony and natural crown emergence while integrating a rigid bar framework. By leveraging digital tools, the team was able to optimize implant angulation, clearance zones, and connector placement with high visual control. The outcome resulted in well-adapted bar structures ready for prosthetic delivery. Final clinical images and step-by-step visuals will be presented to showcase design progression, technical details, and prosthetic outcomes. This case exemplifies how digital tools can harmonize precision engineering with esthetic demands in full-arch implantology.
