High-energy spectral shifting and pulse compression in a dispersion-managed hybrid multipass cell

We demonstrate the generation of high-energy, blue-shifted broadband spectra spanning 800-1100 nm, accompanied by simultaneous temporal compression, enabled by strong space–time focusing in a compact, dispersion-managed hybrid multipass cell (MPC). This regime is achieved by pumping the cell with either 450 fs or 170 fs Yb-based laser pulses at 1030 nm, and yields sub-millijoule, near-transform-limited pulses with durations of 14-16 fs in both cases. This source is currently being developed and investigated as a potential seed for petawatt-class laser systems.
